Goals The course provides knowledge and understanding on principles and characteristics of teaching profession, and classroom/school environment. Also the course deals with social, philosophical, economical, psychological, historical and political foundations of education and alternative perspectives in education.Objectives of the course are; to know the fundamental concepts of education and training, to express the similarities and differences between education and training, to summarise development of educational cience in Turkey chronologically, to summarise development of educational science in other countries chronologically, to interpret the relations between educational sciences and other fields, to recognise the teacher training models, to be aware of the reforms and modernisation studies in the educational system, to develop positive attitudes towards educational science.
Course Content Content of the course are; Fundamental concepts, principles of education and training, evaluation of educational sciences in Turkey, methods in educational science, education and philosophy, education and psychology, education and socio-cultural structure, education and economy, education and law, education and politics, modernisation and reforms in education.
Learning Outcomes 1) Explains the structure and function of the Turkish education system.
2) Describes the individual and the social function of education.
3) Assess the developments in Türkiye and the world in the field of education.
4) Uses scientific terminology related to education and introduction in the right way.
5) Explains the relations of education to other fields.
6) Explains the role of school, teacher, student, and family in the education process.
7) Follows the mass media about education.
8) Explains the structure and function of the Turkish education system.
