Goals It is aimed that students acquire basic theoretical knowledge about Ottoman History and Civilization, research, reading, writing, discussion and critical thinking skills on the subject of the course.
Course Content Anatolia and Seljuks, Mongols in Anatolia, Derebeylik and the Balkans, the Period of the Anatolian Principalities, the Birth of the Ottoman Principality, the Conquest Methods of the Ottomans, the Unification Policies of the State's Conquest Places, the Conquest of Edirne, the Battle of Ankara, the Conquest of Istanbul, the Conquest of Crimea , Safavids and Ottomans, II. Mehmet and Istanbul, Conquest of Belgrade and Rhodes, Ottoman Laws and Suleiman the Magnificent, Preveza War, Vienna Siege, War of Conquest and Inebahti of Cyprus, Ottoman Social Structure, Ottoman Administrative Organization, Ottoman Traditional Culture.
Learning Outcomes 1) Comprehends the important changes and transformations of the world history with a critical perspective.
2) It reaches a conclusion about the internal and external dynamics that enable the Ottoman Principality to grow rapidly.
3) Learns how the Ottoman State structure was established and institutionalized.
4) Understands the nature of the conquests carried out by the Ottoman Empire in the Balkans, Anatolia, North Africa and the Mediterranean between the 14th century and the 17th century.
5) Recognize institutions such as Kadılık and Enderun Mektebi, Divan-ı Hümayun, which shape the Ottoman State order.
6) Have knowledge about structures such as Grooming System, Kapıkulu Quarry, Janissaries that sustain the Ottoman military system, economic and social system.
7) Understand the situation of the bureaucratic classes of the Ottoman Empire called Kalemiye, Seyfiye, Ulema and the major part of the society
8) She/He reaches a conclusion about the reasons and consequences of the Ottoman conquests.(dişil)
9) Understands the political, economic and social events, facts and transformations that determine the domestic and foreign policy of the state in the 17th century
10) Evaluates the daily life, art, literature, science and technique in the Ottoman Empire.
