Goals The aim of the course is to enable students to reach basic information about the History of Civilization and to make inferences about the historical events that constitute the cornerstones of civilization.
Course Content Definition of history, historical periods, the emergence conditions of civilization, linguistic and cultural phenomena, acculturation, the birth and development of some anthropological phenomena, the transition from community to society, the birth process of social classes, agricultural revolution, development of political organization, characteristics of first cultures, first settlements, The cornerstones of civilization such as writing and fire, Mesopotamia, Anatolia, Ancient Egypt, Ancient Greece, China and Indian Civilizations, Legacy of the Roman Empire, Developments in religion, art, literature, science and technique in ancient times, common and distinctive features of the first civilizations , interactions of civilizations, formation of cultural heritage and prominent examples.
Learning Outcomes 1) Analyze the developmental periods of human civilization and the distinctive features of these periods.
2) Explain the contributions of the first civilizations to the history of humanity.
3) Evaluates civilization in terms of change and continuity.
