About Program
There is a prerequisite to write thesis after enrolment in PhD program in the Department of Field Crops, Faculty of Agriculture, Ankara University. Only those student are enrolled in PhD programme, who have graduated under Master's program. PhD degree program involves agronomic&breeding techniques related theoretical, practical teaching and research work in breeding, biotechnology, seed technology, cytology, farming systems (organic farming, sustainable agriculture, etc) related to cool and warm season cereals, pulses, oil crops, fiber &-rubber plants, starch – sugar crops, tobacco-medicinal and aromatic plants, grasses and legumes,meadows&pastures and forage crops subjects that are grown fields.
Goals
Objective of programmes is to train specialists preserving ethical awareness and natural resources to provide continuity in plant production after Master's degree thesis based on accepted level of competence. The doctoral degree is offer redusing modern knowledge related to grains, legumes, industrial crops, pastures and fodder production related breeding and biotechnology issues with provision of analytical approaches (thinking-questioning),facilitating solutions to problems faced in fields. Establishing specialized inter disciplinary relationship for theoretical and practical information to find solutions to current problems in the field. Sharing of knowledge, experience and develop new technologies with producers, researchers and consumer-oriented basic and applied scientific research in all stages of crop production.
Summary of Program Outcomes
Ph.D education in the Department of Field crops program involves advanced theoretical and practical information on topics related to agronomic, breeding and agricultural biotechnology of cereals, edible legumes, industrial crops, pastures and forage crops. Planning comprehensively, solutions to problems after investigating factors affecting production and quality of resulting plant products and yield after conducting research and interpretation of results obtained through application of transfer of skills and knowledge. Continously tracking evaluating and debating innovations and developments on domestic and international level for issues related to field crops production, breeding and agricultural biotechnology, ability to share results obtained from there search, innovation and development with the people and institutions at national and international level.
