Goals Types and structures of cages (floating cages, standing cages etc.), suitable aquatic condition for cage culture, types of cage culture and rearing methods of fish and shell fish in cages.
Course Content Course comprises; Decision of appropriate species and area in cage culture, Definition of cage system materials, Cage system set up and classification of systems according to some specialty, Before cage culture set up some bureaucratic operations should be completed, Trout culture in cages, Bass and sea bream culture in cages, Atlantic salmon culture in cages, Tuna culture in cages, White grouper culture in cages, General view of cage culture in some Mediterranean countries, Effects of cage culture to the environment in Turkey, Precautions by means of reducing possible negative effects of aquaculture in cages to the aquatic environment, Reducing nutrient concentrations in cages originated from feed, Definition of problems encountered in cage culture and solution offer.
Learning Outcomes 1) Identifies cage culture systems that is common in aquacultural systems
2) Comprehends minimising cage culture systems process in different trophic levels
3) Expresses an opinion about the advantages and disadvantages of cage culture
4) Finds out the cage systems in ponds, runningwater, reservoirs and sea.
5) Applies production models in different aquatic organism species
6) Evaluates cage culture environmental effects and expresses opinion on reducing these effects
