About Program
Guidance and Counseling doctoral program is a program carried out by the Department of Psychological Serivces in Education. It is one of the oldest programs of the field of counseling, and has contributed to the emergence and development of many academicians in the field. Each year, approximately 6 candidates are admitted to the program.
Goals
The purpose of this program is to train counselors who have adopted the humanist and existential life philosophy; have internalized the ethical values ??and multicultural understanding of counseling profession while being sensitive to social needs with scientific ethical attitudes and can work in accordance with new paradigms. Another purpose of this program is to train counselors who provide protective and preventive mental health services at primary and secondary level in institutions such as education, health, industry, and justice.
Summary of Program Outcomes
The program aims to gain a variety of knowledge, skills, and competencies in those areas: synthesize the theoretical and practical knowledge in the field of Counseling and Guidance and in its specialist fields; prepate intervention plans and apply them; adopt the codes of professional ethics and do counseling practices according to them; have advanced knowledge of scientific research methods and statistics; contribute to the development of the society and world, etc.
